Charity Makes.

Janice has had a busy time this week making Beatson Bags and a Twiddle muff. All makes will be appreciated. If anyone has some fabric that would do boys or men, please bring it along.

When Janice and Stephanie and I were at the Village Patchers quilting group we asked for some fabric and were then inundated with requests for the bag pattern. The ladies at the Village Patchers will do us proud.  Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer.  

 Morag has two more makes this week. After a long rest from knitting she is really getting back into the swing of it. The little hooded jacket she adapted from a pattern and was just using up bits of yarn that she had at home. The jacket is for her new great-grandson. The jumper is for her other great-grandson. Beautiful work, Morag.

I completed a table mat for my kitchen table.The hexagons were paper pieced and machine quilted.

Magda started the jumper on the left for her husband three years ago! Other projects just got in the way. I'm sure he will appreciate this fab jumper this winter. The jumper with the stripes is for Zuzanna. Magda is confident that Zuzanna will grow into it in time. Baggy is in this year.

Izzi needed a light-weight bag to take to the crafting group, and she made this! It was well admired! We love it, Izzi.

Jillian bought this yarn and needed a project to show it off. The little bolero is ideal and will live in her box until it is needed.

June had great fun making this Twiddle Muff and Stephanie kindly sewed it up and decorated it for her. Teamwork!

Roberta completed the little blanket for her bottom drawer. She also had some yarn that she didn't know what to do with. Eventually, she knitted this amazing cardigan. Roberta's third finish was the circular shawl which she made for someone at the charity shop she volunteers in. It has still to be blocked but it looks amazing.

A wee reminder that the RED Challenge is 6th October. Lots of prizes to be won.

Izzi will collect the Twiddle Muffs and Beatson Bags as Allison is away.

Isabel has CD's for sale in aid of the Beatson. Sadly, her sister died of cancer three years ago and her sister's husband has recorded an album to raise funds for the Beatson. These could make great Christmas presents!

Lisa has passed on a request from Yorkill for baby cardigans and hats for older children undergoing treatment for cancer. These children feel the cold terribly and also need blankets. So....if you have any spare time.....please help.

I am sure Linda will soon be reminding us about the Shoe Box Charity which we support each year.

I know that some of our members fell that they are drowning in requests for makes. I believe that we should just stick to the above named charities until January 2016 and then reassess the situation.

Lemon Ripple.

This beautiful ripple pattern baby blanket was knitted by Margaret for a friend at work. As you may of noticed this pattern looks great in any colour combination. Just have a look at previous blogs and you will see what I mean. The handsome chap in the other picture is Findlay the Fox and he has been adopted by Margaret's daughter, Karen.

If you want to get ahead get a hat! Our charming model was kitted out in a hat and scarf combo created by Norma in Wendy Duo. And in her spare time, Norma crocheted this practical little shawl in sock yarn for a neighbour.

 As you are aware, rabbits breed like......rabbits! The Cuddle Bunnies and Dribble bibs were made by Janice and were quickly snapped up by members of her family as gifts for Mums-to-be. I bet they were thirlled to bits with such cute gifts. Janice also managed to complete a lovely Aran Jacket for her....Just in case box.

 
Stephanie found this pattern in an old magazine and rattled it up in no time. he was particularly pleased with how easy the edging was to do. The edging consisted of just two rows. Have a close look at the the little button that Stephanie chose to complete the garment. The finishing touches score high on the cute scale.

Not as cute as Stephanie's baby jacket but eminently practical is this pair of socks that I knitted for a friend.

Audrey had two finishes this week. The shawl was made for a friend's baby and I was struck  by the finishing details. A very special shawl in which to show off a new baby. The 5m length of ribbon was only £1.75 from Hobbycraft. The little baby hat and and bootees make a superb gift for any new baby.

Here we have a picture of an amazing wedding sampler that Audrey had made as a gift for her nephew's wedding. Unfortunately, Audrey was unable to bring the cross-stitch into the S & B  as she was a wee bit short of time and had already handed the gift over.

Chick, Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken!

In case you can't tell by the title we have found something new we love knitting. Those Easter chicks which made an appearance the week before. Thanks to Caroline we now all have the pattern so I expect there will be more. These three chick were knitted by Isabel. She is planning on knitting some more to send to her family in the US. Her chicks are slightly better so instead of a chocolate egg they contain a chocolate chick.

These are some of Caroline's chicks and it was she that got us knitting with them. Here she has tried other yarns to see the effect. I think I like the eyelash yarn the best. Plus I am betting it's easier on the hands to knit with. Caroline was also knitting up more of them.

This one was knitted by myself. This will be an Easter present for my sister. I do plan to knit more just to use up the yarn.

I also finished these socks. The yarn was donated to me by Helen and it's beautifully socks. They were knitted for Alison who was delighted with them. I spent the rest of the evening knitting more socks.

This beautiful baby shawl was knitted by Helen for a friend. I love the pattern. Helen was just glad to finish it. I don't think she is planning on another anytime soon. She spent the evening also knitting socks.

We also had Isabel teaching Suzanna how to make a hat with those hoops. She picked it up straight away. She is planning on making it for her little brother who already has a jumper to match which was knitted by mum, Magdalena.
