 Roberta has been busy working on little cardigans and blankets for her neice who is expecting a happy event. She will be delighted with these gifts.

I have been working on some baby things for a friend who is looking forward to being a mum again this month.

This was an idea I saw on the internet and was keen to have a go. Would you believe these started out as circles!

Janice has had fun sewing up some more Bunnies to raise funds for the creche where she acts as a volunteer.
The two quilts were made as a donation to Quilts 4 Yorkhill which is sponsored by the Village Patchers. The baby quilt was made for a friend who is about to become a Gran. The quilt is for the new grandchild, not the Gran. I just wanted to clear that up in case any of you were still hung over from the holidays.

 Janet loved the two little hats she made. I loved the flowers! As you can see, Janet is never shy and really wanted to model the two scarves she had completed with King Cole Tinsel. She was planning ahead for next Christmas!

Apologies to Norma who had completed a circular shawl using yarn from Aldi. I swear to God the picture was on my ipad when I started this blog and the aliens must have stolen it! Sorry, Norma.

On January 5th some of our members were desperate for a knit and natter and met in M & S cafe for a catch up. Janice kindly took the photos of the finishes from that night. Above is a kilt pin which was hand made by Anthea. There was another finish but that too seems to have gone AWOL.

Anthea also managed to complete this hand knitted scarf during the Christmas break.

Stephanie likes to keep her box full and had just completed this little hat and jacket. She is still searching for nice buttons to finish the jacket off.

Donna had been working on more Star Wars characters and they are just so adorable. She also exercised the sensible side of her creative brain with this warm red beanie. I bet she knew it would snow!

It would really help me if you could bring your finishes over to be photographed. My knees are acting up....

Elaine is now our Charity Coordinator! That means.......if you have a charity you think the group should support then make your case to Elaine. Last year the group supported FOUR charities at the same time. Some members attempted to do something for  each charity and then suffered a meltdown because they were unable to continue with makes for themselves. Each charity has its merits but I would like to avoid creating such a burden for our members.

As luck would have it, Elaine and some of our members had seen a request for makes for a charity that makes gowns from donated wedding dresses for still born babies. I know this is a rather sad thought but so many of us have been blessed with children and don't realise the grief that some people endure with the loss of a baby. The charity also request knitted hats and bootees. More information to follow.

All Kinds of Everything!

Caroline was delighted with this very apt Wedding Gift made by Norma. A wonderful keepsake.

Phyllis created this lovely shawl with a sparkle using ICE YARN. The pattern is German Scalloped.

Lisa invited Phyllis to visit her studio and even allowed her to play with the dye pots! This scarf is hand dyed by Phyllis and the pattern was created by Phyllis and is for herself. The second picture is a cozy hat made for her darling grandson using aran yarn. The pattern is called To The Point.

Allison is very fond of using Fluttterby yarn and this baby wrap pattern is one of her regular makes because it is so soft and practical and adorable.

Norma has been busy making lots of odds and ends for craft fairs. At the moment she is very much in love with these little baby slippers.

Fran has found time to make something for herself. She was inspired by this DK yarn that her sister brought back from Turkey and crocheted this c2c shawlette. Fran has also been planning ahead for the winter and made this cowl using yarn from Woolly Knits.

Kat has been to Turkey and brought back this DK yarn to make a Road Trip shawl. Kat has had fun experimenting with colour and shape. This star blanket is stunning and is intended  for her BOX!  For those new to the group.......this means that the garment will be put aside until it is required OR you feel strong enough to part with it!

Izzi has a friend going to work in a country ending in .....stan! We can all be a bit forgetful! Anyway, Izzi made 20 pencil cases to be sent out to there as gifts for local children.

Izzi also made this magnificent quilt for Granny Janice to give to baby Christopher. Stunning!

I've been playing with hexagons and paper piecing to create a small table mat. My hands are acting up so with this I can do a little at a time.

Janice made some of the little fabric trinket baskets and is well ahead with Christmas preparations. How many weeks is it until Christmas?

Roberta has also been busy making fabric baskets and I love the way a different fabric can change the look of an item. Thes are easy and fun to make.

The Happy Hookers will be participating in the Beatson charity walk on Sunday 16th August.

The Scottish Quilt Championships will be on show at Ingliston Friday 25th  to Sunday 27th September.

We meet in Conference Room as usual on Tuesday night.

If you are considering taking up some form of exercise you may be interested in BELLY DANCING! Dance With Suraya is a group of ladies who do belly dancing as exercise and fun. They are going to strut their stuff in aid of Alzheimers Scotland at Eastwood Park Theatre on 2nd Octobet 2015 at 8pm. The show is called WHEN EAST MEETS WEST. Small and beautiful.

Norma has been busy in her wee crafty house in the garden. These lovely wee pram charms are just adorable!

Esther charmed us with these little lovely cardigans. Hand knits always look so cosy!

The management would like to point out that it cannot be held responsible for Helen mixing up the names of the creators of these fab garments. Possibly the yellow cardi was a masterpiece made by Esther. Apologies if this is incorrect.

Last Tuesday night was like a fashion show of great ideas. Leslie has been busy making and I just love the the flower motif on the pink cardigan. The three finishes shown above are inspiring!

Kathleen had the greatest fun working these wee hats. Again the flower detail just adds the "Ahhhhhh" factor.

 Sandra completed this beautiful pram blanket. It is soooooooooooo soft and cosy!

Maureen drew an "Ahhhhh!" from me with this delicate pattern.

As you can see Isabel is back from holiday and has busy creating a few more scarves for the shoe box charity.

Linda was delighted to show off these colourful hats she created for the shoe box charity. She will gladly accept donations of hats and scarves whenever you can manage to make a spare garment.

Stephanie is always busy crafting and sewing. These garments are for her grandchildren. The mitts have a sparkle to them.

Laura was one of our new members who just started on Tuesday night. She brought along this charming rabbit she made for a baby shower.

Anthea is always industrious. I don't know how she manages to fit all of her ideas into her busy day. The little pilot helmet is really eye catching I just loved the colour of this chunky blanket.

Yvonne created this amazing bracelet on Tuesday night while she chatted at the knitting group. She now answers to name of "Speedy".

A big welcome to all of our new members!

Just a wee reminder that the Hospice shop in Baillieston is always looking for handknitted baby clothes. I will be happy to take donations along to the shop.
