Mr Snowman Raises a smile!

The Christmas theme is progressing at a rapid rate within the group. Lyn created this handsome chap just for herself. Although he did get lots of admiring glances from many ladies.

Margaret's mum, Rebecca, a young eighty- something has been knitting lots of hats and little jackets for The Royal Maternity Hospital. It is inspiring that some of our older crafters still manage to support local charities in style. Well done, Rebecca!

Keeping it in the Family, Margaret has completed this wonderful blanket for her Mum's Christmas. This is magnificent!

I had two finishes this week. The cot quilt is made from a panel I bought about a year ago. All I did was add a border, attach to a fleece blanket and then quilt within the sea creatures and plants to add stability. I did a little hand-sewing in the border just to finish it off. More socks for me. I just love using Lisa's yarn. It is so soft and the colours are great.

 Susan completed this masterpiece as a gift for her nephew-to-come. The shawl has been done in 3 ply and is extremely fine. I love these heritage shawls. The little hat matches the shawl beautifully.

Caroline has been using this doll pattern for over 30 years. This little princess is for a friend's grand-daughter. Such a great gift for a wee girl.

Norma loves the Retro style of these little coin purses. The clasps are so cute and the purses are fully lined. Needless to say, they are proving to be very popular.

Stephanie found some yarn in her stash and decided to knit this trendy jumper for her BOX. The self striping yarn is very effective. The table mats were made at the Village Quilters group and the pattern is called The Drunkards Path. The Christmas themed mats are for her daughters.

As you know, Esther is very quiet, shy and retiring. I wish! Anyway, Esther  has been learning to crochet and has completed her first Granny Square. Lorraine is a great teacher but Esther complained that she finds it difficult to concentrate because of the noise! Whatever can she mean? Answers please on a postcard.

Lisa is amazing! This is a little hat for Lady Isabella using Lisa's own yarn and her own pattern!

I have a feeling that Fee chatted to me about a finish or was it a work in progress. I hope it was the later because I can't find a photo to back it up. Sorry Fee. Please set me straight on Tuesday night.

When the Red, red Robin comes bob,bob, bobbing along....

These poor little Robins were blue with the cold. Poor things! Margaret knitted them from a kit. She actually has a rather fat Robin in her garden because someone keeps feeding it. The drunken Snowman has  been celebrating a little too much and will dry out under the Christmas tree during the festive season.

Karen has been knitting these Dennis the Menace socks for her lovely sister. This is a great colour combination and I'm sure Lorraine will be delighted.

This is the latest project from the Village Patchers Quilting group. The pattern is called the Drunkards Path and Janice has used it to create a table mat and a mug rug. Apparently, it is quite an easy project to do. I'll take your word for that, Janice!

Do Not Adjust Your Set! This is Sponge Bob Square Pants! Lorraine created him for a friend's grandson. She might be taking orders.

Magda has been busy making Mug Hugs. The one on the left is in her signature Rainbow colours and Magda assures me that they take no time to rattle up. A great idea for a quick handmade gift.

Flower Power!

I just love these purses! Norma crocheted and lined these little coin purses as an experiment. The clasps were an internet buy from Shanghai and they got lots of attention. This eye-lash yarn waistcoat uses a yarn called Tinsel, which has a lovely sparkle to it. This little treasure is for a colleague's granddaughter.

 Norma had lots of time while on holiday to make this soft Pompon pram blanket and a corner to corner using yarn that had been purchased from ALDI.

Isabel completed a pair of socks on holiday using Regia Hand-dyed mixed with another yarn that she was not so keen on. They look great!

I knitted this wee matinee jacket with yarn I picked up at a swap night. It is for the Hospice shop on Baillieston Main St.

 Pompon yarn is very popular with the group because it is easy to knit up and the completed project is always so soft. Jean has added a point of extra interest by including some satin flowers as decoraton. The little dog is for a craft fair in the Merchant City.

Lisa has found time to create a little hat for the baby. She has developed her own pattern and named it Bella's Beanie. Lisa used two strands of Wendy Peter Pan.

Fiona Orr used Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake Chunky to create a cute little new born hat. She managed to improvise the ears by herself. Clever girl!

This picture does not do this shawl justice. Roberta certainly put a great deal of effort into knitting this. At one point she actually had 430 stitches on one needle! It is magnificent!

Santa and his penguin helper are for under Roberta's Christmas tree. It is that time of year again.

This stunning outfit is by Catriona. The pattern is called "Millie's Secret Garden" and can be purchased from an internet site called "I*Believe* in Angels." Take the time and look at the little bootees. Look at the detail. Wow!

I could not resist showing both photographs of the lovely Bella wearing this beautiful dress knitted by Phyllis. The yarn is Lisa's Sunshine and the pattern is called Sproutlet. Every picture tells a story!

Pretty in Pink!

Stephanie likes to give herself a challenge by attempting new and interesting patterns. This lovely yarn has a sparkle to it and the buttons are just to die for. Both were internet buys and the pretty set is for her box. I'm sure Stephanie could stock a shop with the contents of her box!

That talented lady, Magda, had an interesting finish for us this week. This hat was all her own work! The yarn was hand spun by Magda and she even had time to experiment with hand dyeing techniques. This colour would do me fine. Just watch this space for the next installment of Magda's adventures with yarn.

 On the left is a beautiful quilt that Magda had made as a gift for Miss Isabella and on the right is an amazing blanket that Magda created for Zuzanna. Look at the flowers! Stunning!

My friend Gran Sheila has been busy with the knitting needles. Sheila has always knitted and sewed for her family and grandchildren and now continues to knit little hats for charity. This little set are for the Royal Maternity Hospital. Not bad for a youngster of 87 years.

Isabel has returned from her holidays and has completed her new winter blanket. It started off as a poncho but Isabel had doubts about how fashionable it was.............and then turned it into a fabulous blanket. Good call.

Janice has been breeding rabbits and bibs again! This set is for Stephanie's box! I would love to get a look inside that box!

Fee had created this Frog for her friend as a birthday present and had given it away before she had time to bring it along to show to the group. This handsome frog is now loved and cherished in his forever home. Lucky chap!

Lady Isabella was delighted to model her new dress that her mum, Lisa, had just completed on Tuesday night. The yarn was a supermarket buy. Adorable.

Lisa also had time to crochet a hat for the charming Callum who feels the cold somewhat while undergoing treatment. Callum loves his hat and is especially proud of the fact that his Mum made it for him.

Lorraine crocheted a pretty poppy for her Breast Cancer charity. If you look carefully you will notice that the centre of the poppy has been done with eye-lash yarn.

Phyllis crocheted this Harry Potter inspired Hogwarts scarf and hat set for grandson. The Owl hat was for her granddaughter.

The Elsa hat from Frozen was also crocheted by Phyllis for another granddaughter! The blue and white hat is for another grandson who supports Chelsea FC. I wonder if the whole family have had garments made recently? Such a busy lady!

Where did you get that Hat? Where did you get that hat? I don't know the rest of the song ! Lucky escape for you! Anthea created this hat which is based on a Cabbage Patch Doll and is modelled by the lovely Isabella.

Anthea has managed to find time to make an amazing Road Trip scarf for herself. She has finally completed this corner to corner blanket for her daughter in Hogwarts colours. Stunning!

Margaret must be the most organised crafter for Christmas. I love that cat! Sadly, he is spoken for. Someone else will give him a home for Christmas.

Fiona Orr made this gorgeous baby blanket in Rico Pompon. Below you will see that Fiona has matched the little blanket with a lovely baby beret. The shot is in close up so that you can admire the workmanship. That is my story and I'm sticking to it!
