New York, New York!

It's great to have Karen back at the club now that the university madness has come to an end. The New York skyline cross-stitch was rudely interrupted by her studies but looks glorious framed in black.

Karen has even had time to complete this little cutie for her friend's daughter.

How many days/weeks left until Christmas? Don't tell me as I may begin to panic. Margaret seems to be ahead of the game with another seasonal make. The wise owl card was actually Karen's birthday card! Good choice.

Last week I was handed another 30 hats for the Royal Maternity Hospital by Gran Sheila and family. A big thank you to them and to Norma who acts as our post-person whenever she delivers them on her way to work.

Lorraine has been learning to crochet using you-tube videos. She has made a great job of this pram cover and I particularly like the heart detail hanging from the corner.

As you can see, Lorraine has an eye for detail. This wee hat has been made for one of the charity shops.

Sharon likes to work with knitting patterns that have a bit of style about them. I particularly like the way the jacket flares out.

Catriona created this stunning shrug using eye-lash yarn. The little bootees were made for a friend.

Esther has started a new career as a model. While she waits for that all important call from Vogue, Esther eagerly models one of Norma's kit hats made by Ice. The kit includes a ready made pompom.

Anthea plans on giving her kid's teachers a coffee mug and mug hug for Christmas. It is made in Rico Cotton and is aran weight.

Morag has gone into production knitting boot cuffs for the whole family.

We've had a great summer and autumn and no doubt we will treasure a very chilly winter this year. At least Morag is well prepared!

Phyllis has completed her NARISSA shawl by Alison Henshaw. The yarn is a dk by our Lisa and can be found at For The Love Of Yarn once Lisa recovers from producing her new baby. Take your time Lisa and rest. Next week will be fine for mine. lol.

Magda had a mini make this week. Originally this butterfly shawl was to be full size but Magda was disappointed in the way this yarn worked. This mini version will be adopted by a friend's wee girl who dresses Barbie dolls. However, Magda still intends making a shawl for herself using another yarn.

The big news is Lisa had a little girl on Friday night. Isabella came into the world weighing 8lb 1oz. Baby and Family are doing well.

We are having SWAP night on 23rd September. Just bring along those things you just had to buy and someone will give them a new home.

A CAKE OFF has been arranged for 7th October inspired by the wonders seen in the Great British Bake Off. This is not a competition. It is pure indulgence! Just bring along your favourite bake and sample whatever is available. juice will be supplied. Bring your own bib.

Not Last Week BUT The Week Before.........

Jillian is a big fan of pompom yarn and has worked two beautiful soft baby blankets. 

The solid colour blanket is just as cute as the multi-coloured yarn.

Elaine had created some pompoms for Lyn's challenge to participate in Kirstie Althorpe's World Record Breaking line of pompoms.

Lyn started her contribution to the record breaking attempt with these multi-coloured woolly pompoms.

Caroline had crocheted this wonderful rainbow blanket. The stitching is stunning! This is an amazing gift for someone.

Roberta was in a purple mood when she knitted these lovely socks. It is amazing the number of people who are now attempting socks. Ginnie Willis you must be so proud that your sock influence has spread throughout the group.

This bonnie pink baby dress was also knitted by Roberta.

Is there no end to this woman's talents? Roberta completed this marvellous red and white aran cardigan. Wow! I wonder what she will bring in next week!

Catriona joined the group recently and brought along this nifty romper suit she had completed. 

 I just love these pink bootees that Catriona had knitted. So cute!

 This stunning baby coat and hat would go beautifully with the bootees. I look forward to seeing Catriona's next finish.

The teacup candle was bought by Fiona on a facebook auction. Our own talented Norma had made this and donated it to the auction.

As you know, Ponchos are on trend at the moment. Fiona had fun working on this little outfit.

 How cute are these little teddy slippers? Fiona created a loud ahhhh! when she displayed this set. These would be a hit at any baby shower.

Anthea has been working on her crocheted flower blanket for about five months. I've admired it in various stages of development and was disappointed to have missed its completion. It looks amazing. What an achievement!

I was on holiday and missed these wonderful finishes and would like to say a huge thank you to Janice for taking the photos and and keeping the notes. I would also like to thank the seven people who assisted me in downloading the photos and juggling them around the computer towards blogger. I shall now retire to the safety of the couch and sip a large chilled glass of wine.

Two In One

This is two weeks in one due to my hectic schedule over the past few weeks. I can only apologise but it will be a while before things lighten up. In the meantime I will do my best to post photo's when I can. I actually have a few guest posts coming up so that's something for you to look forward to. First of all, last week Magdalena made these amazing biscuits for us. It was a thank you for sponsoring her. She was doing along with the kids for the playgroup. As much as we were happy to do it these biscuits did not last long on the plate. I was lucky to get a photo.

We are actually showcasing here some work by a friend of the group. Elaine's friend makes these amazing teramundi pots. Not just decorate but make! Anyone who has ever had a teramundi pot knows that the pot is sealed in it's entirety so that you have to smash it open in order to get at the money inside. Well, these ones have stoppers at the bottom. Which is just as well. Who would want to smash something that so much work went into. Elaine bought these pots from her friend for two communions.

Isabel has been busy with her famous wee projects. A friend of her family has just had a tiny baby girl and so Isabel knitted a bunny egg cosy. Both Dawn and Isabel have knitted them before. I love the pinks in this one. She also knitted these tiny little baby bootees which go perfectly with the bunny.

Stephanie is at it again. She knitted the lovely pink and red suit. I love the lace pattern and I have to say that the little hat is my favourite. So pretty that it's going into Stephanie's famous box filled with knitted goodies. One day we will get her to put something on display.

I wasn't there on Tuesday but I did get a hold of some photo's. First of all Isobel finished knitting another of her bags with bangle handles. Amelie was the lucky recipient and you can see just how delighted she was with it. I have heard that she wouldn't put it down. Plus, how grown up does she look now?

Freya has once again been a busy bee. She decorated these lovely boxes with decoupage. She definitely has a talent for that craft. I don't think I can choose which of the two I like best. I love the sheet music papers and yet love the decorations on the heart. Look forward to seeing what she makes next.

Jean has mastered the art of granny squares. After learning only a few weeks ago she finished this lovely blanket. I love the colours. Wonder if we have another granny square addict on our hands.

Margaret was the volunteer photographer this week. She even managed to take a photo of a top she has not long finished. The yarn has a silky sheen to it and turned out lovely. Although I believe that it was a nightmare to carry around as it tangled in her bag. I love the edging.

We also had a few finishes for the shoe box charity. Both Stephanie and Alison knitted these lovely hats. I am sure the recipients will be delighted. Which reminds me, if anyone would like to knit for the charity I am sure Linda would be happy to accept them.

Next post up will be by Helen which I will post tomorrow all being well. Elaine and Linda organised a trip to Perth racecourse for a knitting show. I hear it was very good fun and look forward to sharing Helen's post with everyone.

This weekend is our annual Gartmore trip. Alas, I am unable to make it. So hope everyone is thinking of me on the hospital wards while they are knitting away. The good news is that my gran is taking my place and she is very much looking forward to it. Isabel is also going along for the first time (she has been visiting her grandkids in the states the last few times) and she has volunteered to take photo's and to write a little about it. Will be nice to hear someones else's perspective.

And, we have a baby shower a week on Tuesday for Donna to look forward to (which I will be there for).
