New York, New York!

It's great to have Karen back at the club now that the university madness has come to an end. The New York skyline cross-stitch was rudely interrupted by her studies but looks glorious framed in black.

Karen has even had time to complete this little cutie for her friend's daughter.

How many days/weeks left until Christmas? Don't tell me as I may begin to panic. Margaret seems to be ahead of the game with another seasonal make. The wise owl card was actually Karen's birthday card! Good choice.

Last week I was handed another 30 hats for the Royal Maternity Hospital by Gran Sheila and family. A big thank you to them and to Norma who acts as our post-person whenever she delivers them on her way to work.

Lorraine has been learning to crochet using you-tube videos. She has made a great job of this pram cover and I particularly like the heart detail hanging from the corner.

As you can see, Lorraine has an eye for detail. This wee hat has been made for one of the charity shops.

Sharon likes to work with knitting patterns that have a bit of style about them. I particularly like the way the jacket flares out.

Catriona created this stunning shrug using eye-lash yarn. The little bootees were made for a friend.

Esther has started a new career as a model. While she waits for that all important call from Vogue, Esther eagerly models one of Norma's kit hats made by Ice. The kit includes a ready made pompom.

Anthea plans on giving her kid's teachers a coffee mug and mug hug for Christmas. It is made in Rico Cotton and is aran weight.

Morag has gone into production knitting boot cuffs for the whole family.

We've had a great summer and autumn and no doubt we will treasure a very chilly winter this year. At least Morag is well prepared!

Phyllis has completed her NARISSA shawl by Alison Henshaw. The yarn is a dk by our Lisa and can be found at For The Love Of Yarn once Lisa recovers from producing her new baby. Take your time Lisa and rest. Next week will be fine for mine. lol.

Magda had a mini make this week. Originally this butterfly shawl was to be full size but Magda was disappointed in the way this yarn worked. This mini version will be adopted by a friend's wee girl who dresses Barbie dolls. However, Magda still intends making a shawl for herself using another yarn.

The big news is Lisa had a little girl on Friday night. Isabella came into the world weighing 8lb 1oz. Baby and Family are doing well.

We are having SWAP night on 23rd September. Just bring along those things you just had to buy and someone will give them a new home.

A CAKE OFF has been arranged for 7th October inspired by the wonders seen in the Great British Bake Off. This is not a competition. It is pure indulgence! Just bring along your favourite bake and sample whatever is available. juice will be supplied. Bring your own bib.

Monkey Business!

This charming monkey made us all laugh! This masterpiece is by Morag and I think you will agree that he would make anyone smile. The red hat is also by Morag and has been crocheted. The photograph just does not do it justice. Great workmanship!

 Margaret was as proud as punch with her version of Shaun the Sheep. Margaret is one of our crafters who is able to turn her hand to most things. This Easter card is for Karen, but it is a secret at the moment, so mum's the word!

Margaret has also completed four hats for the Seafarers charity. At the moment we have about 40 hats. This charity runs until 24th June. Plenty of time to do a few more.

I completed these lace socks just at the weekend. I thought I would attempt something different from the usual plain sock that I do and feel quite pleased with myself with the finished article.

Fraya is one of our junior members and is always happy to attempt a new technique. This week she had completed this handsome felt mouse.

Fraya saw this emblem on someone's jacket. The girl who had the jacket was knicknamed ACE for obvious reasons. Fraya thought this was cool and made her version of ACE using fabric paints on a plain t-shirt. Great idea! 

Norma crocheted three little premie hats for Lisa's charity.

As you know, Esther is shy about showing off her skills, but look at these baby bootees! Such a beautiful gift to give. Well done!

Fiona created these little hats in treble crochet for Lisa's charity. Fiona was so chuffed with herself because she mastered the magic loop! Go girl!

Elaine has been busy for another of our charities. This cosy hat and scarf combo is destined for the Shoe Box Appeal.

NAME THOSE LEGS! Only joking....... Isabel has returned from yet another holiday in sunny California and was dying to show off her legs, I mean Jacquard pattern socks. I think they look fab (the socks and the legs) but Isabel is disappointed with the recommended yarn for the socks. The pink/ orange yarn did not give the effect she had anticipated. I think they look great! Look at the complicated pattern!

How cute are these? Lyn knitted these wonderful Easter chicks and Easter bunnies for a charity sponsored by Hobbycraft. The best news is that these little charmers conceal a creme egg!

Fran brought along a load of finishes this week. I think she has been saving them up for several months! First of all, we have a collection of premie hats in a variety of colours and sizes for Lisa's charity.

Next, Fran has had fun crocheting blankets and matching hats using shells or working from corner to corner. These are also for Lisa's charity and they are stunning!

The variety of finishes this week has been amazing. Allison knitted this baby blanket with hood in Flutterby. The completed item is so soft to the touch and ideal for a baby. Just look at those ears! Not Allison's....but on the blanket hood.

This week, Rhona was delighted to show her collection of finishes. Above you can see a cosy baby blanket knitted in a variegated yarn and finished with a crochet trim.

Next, we can see a little baby ballerina cardigan that is just waiting for its buttons.

The top above and the cotton cardigan below are for Rhona. She plans to add a zip to to complete the top. I think Rhona is getting organised for summer.

All the Pretties!

This adorable little girl belongs to Lisa. She is modelling a hat that Lisa knitted for her. Sadly none of the photo's I took really shows off the hat. Trust me though, it's lovely. It's done in crochet using variegated yarn (possibly Lisa's own yarn?) and has a pom pom on the end (as all the best hats do).

One of the group also commissioned Lisa to make a crochet hook. She already made R2D2 so it seemed only fitting that C3PO was next. But then, as a Star Wars fan, I am a little biased.

Margaret has been working on some Christmas decorations. She knitted up two elves. One for me and one for herself. It's the same elf that Roberta knitted. Margaret couldn't get the shade of green suggested so picked out a darker one. Again, I love the difference just changing a shade of colour can make. I also love the little tree decorations. Especially the robin.

Audrey emailed this picture to me because these cushions were already heading down to London for her nephews Christmas. A while ago we had show and tell and Audrey had brought a little owl cushion which my camera then lost. This is a bigger version of that owl. Audrey adapted both patterns to make them larger. Love them and probably just as well she wasn't able to bring them in as I might have tried to go home with them.

These are boot liners or boot cuffs. I knitted them up as I had just treated myself to a pair of wellies. A few people were asking me about the yarn. It's by Wendy and is called Roam Fushion. The colourway is called Fosse. It comes in 100g and would be perfect for socks. I got it from John Lewis but I am sure that you could get it online. The pattern was free from ravelry.

This is the lovely radley dog  and was knitted by Roberta. He turned out a little larger than expected but I think he is cute. Roberta also adapted the pattern to suit herself. I love his little dog collar.

Elaine has been preparing for her craft fair and knitted up some of these bags. She used bangles for the handles as Izzi taught about a year or so ago. I love how the different yarns make them look different. The fluffy ones using the eyelash yarn are my favourite. Would have loved one of these when I was a little girl.

Elaine also finished crocheting this beautiful blanket and pillow set. The amount of time that must have went into that and well worth it too. They aren't colours I would have thought to put together and they look amazing. This was well admired by the group.

Another finish we all admired was this beautiful quilted pillow by Linda. Each of these fabrics are from dresses her daughter wore as a baby. Her daughter is now 16 and this makes a fabulous memory piece. It's so pretty too. Such a good idea!

Magdalena is all set for the winter. She finished her cowl/scarf. It looks so lovely on and I love the colours. Very autumn like. I also love the buttons. They all go so well with the colours in the scarf. I love the fact that she used different colours.

Anthea has also been busy but nothing for herself. Everything she made is for Christmas. These hats are all for other people. It's a shame. Not sure I could give them away. Although, I am sure that the people who receive them will love them. I love the crochet flower on the red one.

These were also by Anthea and again are Christmas presents. The scarf is for her husband. Anthea is really getting in to her cables although she hated knitting black (don't blame her). The poncho is being modelled by Magdalena. The amount of time that has went into that. It's especially admirable since Anthea loves colour and doing so much work in grey was difficult. Turned out beautifully though.

I have been dying to see some of Fee's work and it's finally happened. In case you don't know Fee is a silversmith by day. She designs a lot of pieces but as it's for the shop she works for she can't exactly bring it in to let us see. We just get to hear about the wedding rings she designs from her mum, Lyn. Well, she made this lovely heart necklace for Lyn for her birthday. It's such a pretty design. I love the simplicity of it and I'm not surprised that Lyn was wearing it with pride. Beautiful!

Well, we have one more week left before Christmas and we have one more member of the month interview. So look out for that!

I also have a favour to ask on behalf of Fiona. Her sister is taking part in crocheting triangles for bunting. It's for a charity. So if anyone has any spare time after Christmas and would like to crochet something let us know. Fiona is going to give me the pattern so I will send that out after Christmas.
