Baby Boutique!

Stephanie has a new pattern that has taught her an interesting technique that can be adapted to other patterns. Look at the the roll collar. Once you have knitted and completed the ordinary neck band you just pick up and add the roll finish. Any wee girl would adore this pink cardi and hat now that the cooler days are upon us. This masterpiece is too good to give away and Stephanie plans to keep it in her box.

Janice enjoys making the cuddle bunnies and dribble bibs. This set were made from remnants that were left over from covering a chair. This would be the ideal present to send abroad. The little matinee coat was made for no one in particular. Janice likes to have some baby garments ready for her boys to give as gifts to friends blessed with a new baby.

It is always lovely to see Joyce coming along to the group. The fastest knitter in the west! Joyce found this completed vest top in a drawer. The group did these little tops for aids babies in Africa and this one will be passed onto the church group in question who originally sponsored this charity.

Elaine crocheted this bonnie wee hexagon cardigan and hat for her cousin. I love the coconut ice combination of pink and white. Beautiful.

I'm looking for a lot more finishes next week. I hope that you may have seen something here to inspire you. Happy crafting.

Hats for the Rpyal Maternity Hospital

Earlier today I noticed an appeal by Anthea on behalf of the Royal Maternity Hospital for normal sized baby hats. The hospital had an ample supple for premature babies but had run out of the regular first size of hats. As luck would have it, I just happened to know that a knitter of 87 years young had a stash of baby hats looking for a charitable home. Gran Sheila had always been a knitter and liked to keep busy and had amassed  a collection of 90 hats over the last few months. She was delighted to donated her work to such a good cause. Well done, Gran Sheila! And a big Thank You to Norma who handed the collection into the Royal Maternity on her way to work the following day.

I've been learning to crochet this year and I think I might just be making progress. I managed to complete two baby blankets this week. One for the Hospice shop in Bailieston and one for a lady who is about to go off on maternity leave.

Norma had a lot of fun creating this scarf. The yarn is called "Oh-la-la"  by Ice Yarns and there were only two stitches in the pattern If you would like to have a go at a similar project then you can obtain the yarn from Norma.

OK, I give in! Christmas is coming, The goose is getting fat .......etc, etc! I confess, I love these cross-stitch cards by Margaret. She really is planning ahead!

Noreen had completed a set of pram accessories. These miniature bootees are stunning and make such a beautiful gift.

Sharon has an eye for style! I told you earlier that traditional baby styles are all the rage just now. Practical, functional and CUTE!

Janice loved being a Clydesider and a ball at the Commonwealth Games. The Clyde mascots are for friends and the Clydesiders are for fellow Clydesiders who wanted a momento of the occassion.

I think Janice can knit this pattern with her eyes closed. This aran jacket and hat is gorgeous and is for a friend. There was some yarn left over so Janice just rattled up an extra hat. Just like that!

Kathleen's work is stunning! The baby hats were trimmed with eyelash yarn. The bigger of the hats was adapted from beret pattern and the smaller hat was adapted from a beanie pattern.

Anthea has many talents! These tops were created in response to the lovely weather we had this summer. The fabric for the Paisley pattern top was purchased in the Cotton Print Shop. The fabric at the top of the second garment was bought in South Africa in 1994. The darker blue fabric came from Mandors.

The third top has been made with a Lberty styleprint purchased in Mandors.

Anthea also crocheted this magnificent shawl for the cooler evenings using some of her own yarn that she had spun and dyed. The yarn is 100% silk. Anthea was unhappy with the resulting colour soooooo she dyed it again and this is the result.

This is the Anthea Fashion Show! Would you believe that Anthea got this fabric at one of our swap nights about a year ago? Our summer was so hot that Anthea needed a cool outfit. Wow!

Gill has been busy working on this amazing shawl in King Cole Riot. I must watch out for this yarn. The colour is called Urban.

Phyllis knitted this beautiful little baby dress in Baby Merino which she got from Norma. I love the detail in the dress.

Can you spot Magda? She had just returned from holiday in Poland and completed this blanket on her travels. She used six different colours to create 120 differnt hexagons. the result......STUNNING!

Elaine made this lovel wee FLUTTERBY baby suit. It is so soft to the touch. However, she had to alter the pattern to make the opening bigger to accommodate the baby. If you plan to use this pattern, please speak to Elaine and she will explain what she did. If you attempt it on your own the the baby will have to a contortionist to get into the garment!

Sorry about the delay putting in making the blog available to you but I went to Ireland for a few days and ran out of time to do this earlier. see you all tonight.

A new crafting star has been found!

Isabel's son and family have moved back to the UK from sunny California. Her handsome grandson, Ben, had been working on this decoupage picture frame as a surprise for his mum. A real crafter in the making. Well done, Ben!

Yvonne's Mum-in-Law, Mary, knitted this marvelous rabbit for Yvonne. Mary had bought the kit in Hobbycraft. This is one project I would love to try. I should make a list of inspiring projects I would love to do but I get side tracked and I just know I would never get to the end of the list. However, I really would love to make this rabbit.

These Christmas Carol Singers have popped up from time to time in various stages of undress. I'm certain that they did not look quite so seasonal when Roberta was working on them at Gartmore. Now, they are ready and waiting for their first performance  and will be found under Roberta's Christmas tree during Advent.

This classic Hat and coat set has been knitted by Stephanie. It took her a little time to master the complicated stitches that add such beautiful detail to the work. Zoom in and take a careful look at the buttons. They were an internet buy. Stephanie plans to keep this masterpiece in her box. Maybe a great grand-daughter will be lucky to wear this lovely outfit at some time in the future.

Super Ted was knitted by Margaret for a friend in her work. You can tell this little chap is a super-hero because his underwear is visible! Love it!

This baby aran jacket was also knitted by Margaret. It is for a little girl who is about to have her first birthday. The buttons are amazing!

I had two finishes this week. The socks are for a friend who is going on holiday to the USA for a month. I used Lisa's yarn for this project. It was wonderful to work with. This year I am determined to learn how to crochet. This is my first baby blanket and I'm delighted with the finish. I will donate it to the Hospice shop in Baillieston who are always looking for knitted and crocheted baby clothes. I hope it goes to a good home.

Ho, Ho, Ho! Its a Santa loo roll cover!Noreen was asked to do make this by a friend. I would like to point out that it is only August and this is the second Christmas related item tonight! In spite of that, I like his whiskers.

Elaine is a whiz with the old crochet hook and this is a wee premie baby hat that she made in a spare moment. The hat is for Lisa's charity.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star........that would be particularly apt for this little baby poncho which was crocheted by Fiona O in a white  sparkle yarn. The little bow was a video tutorial that Fiona found on the web. A pretty gift for a baby shower.

This amazing blanket reminds me of Jacob's coat of many colours. Lisa completed this incredible blanket for the new addition to her family that could make an appearance any day now. Zoom in and check out the stitch detail. WOW!

The final make of the evening is this Red Riding Hood jacket that Lisa made for the wee one. Adorable.

Good news! Karen is just about to complete her nursing training and she has found a job! Yippee!

Crochet Rocks!

"WOW!" Said I.
"I just did it to see if I could, " replied Roberta in a matter of fact voice.
"WOW!"

The little Ollie the Owl was made using up odds and ends by Roberta.

This is the third item that Roberta crafted in her spare time. The bonnie wee jumper is for the charity shop that she volunteers for.

Margaret is also a serial crafter. The Pussy Cat and the squirrel she knitted for fun but the Squirrel has been adopted by her lovely daughter, Karen. The fabulous baby jacket was knitted for a friend at work.

Janice has been busy making Cuddle Bunnies and Dribble Bibs as a special request from her daughter-in-law to be. She wants to give them as presents to friends. A mother-in-laws work is never done!

Norma is always a busy beaver! This amazing shawl ha been crocheted in Merry-go-round yarn by  Stylecraft for her neighbour's new grandson.

Norma said that this blanket had been on the hook for almost a year but she was determined to finish it. The pattern was found on the internet. See Norma if you would like more details. I love coconut ice colours. Very subtle.

As you know, Norma is a big fan of Wendy DUO and has made another cosy hat and scarf set. The pompom comes with the yarn. Very handy.

Wonder Woman, sorry, I meant to say Roberta, also completed a pair of socks! Is there no end to this woman's talent? I wonder what she will bring next time!!!!!!! Can't wait.

That very talented Izzy made this stylish bag and coordinating crochet hook case for Fee. Some people will be very jealous of this set. Keep your eyes on this at all times Fee!
