Let's Dance!

As you can see, Zuzanna, is delighted with her new dress for Irish Dance Competitions. It is spectacular! Magda, her talented Mum, has made Zuzanna, the Belle of the Ball! Zoom in and have a look at the wonderful bead work.

Margaret has knitted this wee set for the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital in Glasgow. The powers that be had asked for knitters to produce sets to give to the first babies born on Christmas day and New Years day. This is ideal.

Janice has been making more bunnies and bibs. Someone asked her for one of each ......but she got carried away! These always create a stir when shown at the S & B.

Magda had time to crochet cosy hats for Adam and Jan. And just to prove that the boys appreciated them, Magda had photographic evidence.

Phyllis is always busy. This week she created a corner to corner blanket and matching hat for a friend.

At last, I have been able to complete the Japanese Stepping Stones project from the Village Patchers Quilting group. There was a great deal of hand sewing in this  and I really enjoyed it.

Sharon enjoys working with Kadie Jade patterns. This wee set is beautiful and the yarn has a lovely sparkle.  There is so much detail in this pattern.

Catriona didn't have any knitted projects to show this week. Instead, she brought along a box frame featuring sentiments and filled with seed pearls so the box can also act as a shaker. She has been asked to make similar frames including photographs for special occasions.

Jean saw the pattern for this hat involving eye-lash yarn and just had to make one. Good choice. It looks fab.

Kathleen has been trying out a new crochet pattern. This wee jacket is beautiful and just needs some buttons to complete the look.

Elaine had completed a car seat blanket using ICE yarn. The colours are bright and cheerful and will make a great gift for her friend at work.

This handsome chap was knitted by Lyn. I did offer to give him a good home but... He is so cute. Look at the eyes! And the nose! He even has little feet!

What a HOOT!

I love this owl! I would give him a happy home if he was up for adoption. This handsome chap is straight out of Harry Potter and was loving made by Lyn. Tu-wit -tu- woo!

Madga has always been a busy crafter. This week she was feeling the cold, winter chill and created a cosy green scarf with interesting edging. Below, you can see Magda wearing her new jumper which she completed this evening. I think Magda is now ready to face any winter weather that comes her way.

Fran completed this pink chunky cowl in double quick time! Winter forces us to be creative quickly.

The lovely Lisa has been making these clever stitch markers for quite some time. What I love about them is the fact that they remind you which hook you were working with. With so many things going round in my head, I could certainly do with several of these.

Isabel has more crafting time now that she has retired. This week She completed a pom-pom hat with yarn she got at a swap night. It's no loss what a friend gets!

Fiona has come on  leaps and bounds with her crochet. This magnificent poncho has been made for her niece. I bet the wee girl will be delighted.

Stephanie has been working overtime with her knitting needles. Boy Scouts rub two sticks together to make a fire but Our Stephanie can KNIT with two sticks! I am very fond of this pattern and I just adore the wee hat that has been made to complete the set.

The two cardigans were knitted just for fun! Stephanie likes to work with a variety of patterns and this is a great way to use up some of her enormous yarn stash.

I saved the best for last! This  Elf set is so cute! I could see this working in many different colour combinations. The bootees have a surprise in them. Stephanie included little bells in the toes! Hearing the tinkling of fairy bells every time the baby kicks his feet! Brilliant!

If you missed me on Tuesday night, I was away getting some winter sunshine. If you didn't miss me..........why not!

A big thanks to Janice for taking the photos and e-mailing them to me. And thanks to Stephanie for doing the raffle.

Remember we have Aileen's baby shower on 17th February and Refurbishment begins on the Conference Room on 24th February.

Happy New Year!

Janice is a Grandmother-to-be and she spent her holiday knitting some little garments for for the arrival of her first grandchild. Above, you can see two fisherman's rib cardigans that will be easy for a wee one to wear. The buttons on the white cardigan were originally from her son's cardigan when he was a baby!

This lovely jacket is so stylish and and will be treasured by the new mum. Janice was just using up some spare yarn when she knitted these practical baby hats.

I came across an old pattern that my friend's mum was throwing out and decided to have a go. I like the pattern and the yarn but I am not fond of a set in sleeve.  My sewing machine has a range of fancy stitches and for a long time I had intended making a stitch bible showing how some of my favourite stitches look using variegated thread.

Jillian loves to sew! Jillian had this fabric for a while and had intended making a dress for the summer. She made this dress during the Christmas break because she is going away for some winter sunshine. Lucky thing!

Fiona Orr has created another of these adorable hats! I love the style of this bonnet. Beautiful.

Anthea had been working on this corner- to- corner blanket for a while. She created it as a Christmas gift for her nephew in England. I bet he was delighted with it.

This is stunning! Catriona has magic hands! This set is called Milly's Secret Garden. Zoom in to see the pearls set inside each cable. Look at the bootees! This set is heading off to the USA. Someone will be amazed to receive this beautiful set.

Fran has been busy too. Above you can see her completed Road Trip Scarf which was a gift to herself. Busy crafters seldom have time to make for themselves!

Fran also completed this cowl. The pattern is from Be Hooked Crochet. Fran had some spare yarn left over and made some finger-less mittens to go with the cowl. The pretty corner- to -corner blanket was created as a gift for Fran's great-niece. I love the way the yarn changes colour in this piece and I particularly like the little flower motif.

Did you know our Isabel has retired? During the Holidays she completed the pair of socks on the left as a gift for a friend at work. The second pair of socks was a Christmas present for her great-niece aged 3 years. Isabel combined three different patterns to create the second pair! WOW!

Isabel was given a kit at Christmas time to make a hot water bottle cover. It did not take long to do and she may give the completed gift back to her sister next Christmas!

Elaine enjoyed working with this yarn while she was making this cushion cover. I would like to point out that I also like blue! Just saying! The scarf that Elaine is modelling is stunning! Elaine got the pattern and the yarn from The Queen of Purls at the Saltmarket. The scarf pattern is called, Gallatin scarf.

Izzy is having a rest from sewing at the moment and has been playing with her crochet hook instead. This little hat is for her favourite charity.
