Aileen's Baby Shower.

It was lovely to have so many "Previous Bumps" coming along to participate in Aileen's Baby Shower. Above you can see Esha beside Olivia, who will soon be a  wonderful Big Sister, and Bella who would love to have long flowing locks.

Olivia took a keen interest in all of the gifts and even had to give some of the clothes a try on. Most people were a wee bit camera shy this time round so I am unable to  name some of the present givers who showered precious presents on Aileen for her bump.

Margaret was unable to attend but sent her best wishes with a beautiful cape which was just a wee bit neat on Olivia. Janice acted as an assistant to Aileen by repacking the gifts.

Karen made one of her wonderful blankets. I knitted a hooded jacket and hat.

So sorry folks but I have forgotten who presented the snow suit and the bag of goodies including the bear cushion. Love that cushion!

Stephanie has been busy with her sewing machine and created this super cot quilt.

Toys for Aileen!

Norma crocheted this cosy pram cover in blues and greens. Lovely to touch.

Magda made a little cocoon for the the new born's first outing.

Elaine created this enchanting crocheted bunting. Such a great idea!

Izzy made one of  her world famous baby bags which also held a little changing mat. Aileen was joined by her sister, Sheena, who had come along to help organize the transportation of the gifts.

Olivia received some little gifts suitable for a Big Sister.

Aileen received a variety of wonderful ideas for herself and the baby. Oliver was fascinated with the ball that Caroline had crocheted. Olivia's cousin Charlotte just loved showing off her yellow wellies!

More wonderful items for the nursery. Sorry folks, I don't have a note of the names as I was too busy admiring the goodies.

Little Bella did not want to part with her gift.

Fiona Orr crocheted a sunny hat and matching bootee set suitable for a spring baby.

Ally made a wonderfully cosy wrap around blanket with a hood. It even had ears!

Phyllis created a sunshine shawl that was stunning.

Swati found time to hand paint a set of little vests with a variety of pictures. Such a great idea!

Aileen was overwhelmed by the kindness shown to her and her bump. She gave her heart felt thanks to all.

MORE GOOD NEWS!

The refurbishment work to the conference room etc has been delayed! Yippee! We can stay in our usual crafting home for at least 3 months.

To celebrate,we will have a SWAP NIGHT next week, Feb 24th. This allows you to recycle some of your crafting supplies that you did not get around to using. Someone else will give those supplies a good home.

Some people have requested a CAKE NIGHT in anticipation of the return of The Great British Bake Off. Please bring along some home baking on the 24th February. All diets are cancelled that night.

Happy Crafting!

Twas the Week Before the Baby Shower!

Stephanie has been busy knitting  amazing things for her box, again. I don't know if she does the same pattern twice but she certainly does a beautiful job of knitting baby clothes. Her great-grandchildren will be well catered for when they appear in a few years time. This little set has been made using yarn with a sparkle and the pattern contains baubles. I particularly like the hat.

I had a couple of finishes this week. I came across some James Brett yarn that I bough ages ago on a whim and decided to use it up by knitting a fisherman's rib cardigan for my box! My second finish is some bunting that I made for a friend's baby's first birthday. I hope he likes it.

Fran is a busy woman juggling work and family so it was nice to learn that Fran had made some Me time to crochet a magnificent shawl for herself using  a ripple pattern with Sirdar Click.

Lisa has been working her magic with colour pots again. This time she has created lace weight and sock weight yarn for some of our members Such a talented lady. I do love those colours!

Fiona completed a wonderfully colourful blanket for a friend whose baby appeared three months early. This is Stylecraft Merry-go-round and the colour changes and amazing.

Sharon prefers the designer patterns, This little cocoon and hat set is adorable. The set is worked in a cream yarn that shimmers and was bought from the Bargain Wool shop at the Barras. Ohhhhhh! This is so cute!

Would you believe that Fiona Orr has a box? Well she does. It is such a great idea to have some completed items in reserve for baby presents. We all get caught out, time-wise. We lead such busy lives that it makes sense to have some things ready in case work conflicts with crafting time. Fiona has used Random yarn by Teddy-Bella Bamboo which she bought in Dublin. If you can't spare the time to travel to Dublin, I have been informed that you can buy it on -line. I'm a sucker for pastels so I will keep a note of this yarn.

Roberta has treated herself to a new blanket to throw over her couch. The colours tone in with her colour scheme at home and a lady needs her comfort during the chilly evenings.

Alison is working so crafting time is treasured. This is the biggest thing she has ever made. The blanket is for her bedroom and looks great in these spring colours.

Izzy is a whizz with the sewing machine! She noticed that her friend, Patsy, needed something to help her to organize her little bits and bobs. Being Izzy, she just threw this little pouch together in no time at all.

Kathleen likes to crochet whenever she gets a quiet moment. This sweet little jacket was adapted from a pattern she got on ebay.

Anthea made this terrific Owl Coffee Cosy from a pattern that  she bought  from Ravelry. If you look closely, you will notice that Anthea has successfully crocheted cables to create the owl.

Baby Shower on 17th February. Please remember that the only photos I will take that night will be of the Baby Shower. Save any other finishes for the following week.

24th February is our last gathering at the Fort before refurbishment begins.

3rd March we meet in the coffee shop of the Library at the Bridge in Easterhouse.

Happy crafting.

Love is in the air!

Magda is full of ideas! This is a great idea for mug rugs for the one you love. This style is based on Crazy Patchwork. Simple but sophisticated.

Izzy is having a rest from sewing at the moment and has produced a lovely baby blanket for a friend of the family. Another talented lady who has mastered several crafting techniques.

This tapestry kit was given to Laura by Roberta. Laura ran out of yarn and did a tour of craft suppliers until she could match the correct colours. This took a while to complete but Laura was delighted with the finished item.

I love these! Jill was inspired by similar hats she had seen on a blog called, "Repeat Crafter Me." Jill modified the patterns to make these hats. What a stunning collection!

Roberta is another repeat crafter. Why stop at one craft? The hedgehogs were a MUST make because they were so cute. The table runner and mug rugs were inspired by Stephanie's Japanese garden path wall-hanging. Roberta had bought the fabric a long time ago and rescued it from a drawer to make this set. Stunning!

I knitted this little white cardigan with a yarn which had a bit of sparkle to it. Stephanie kindly sewed the garment together for me when my fingers were misbehaving with the cold. I adore this pattern and look forward to working  it again.

I would find it helpful if you could bring your finishes out to be photographed. My old pins are not what they used to be.

Aileen's Baby Shower is on 17th February. Please note that on this evening the only photographs \I will be taking will be of the Baby Shower. Please keep other finishes for the following week.

Our New Home from the 3rd of March is The cafe at The Bridge Library at 1000 Westerhouse Road, in Easterhouse. You can park in the street or in the car park which services the college and swimming pool.

Elaine has reminded us that if you plan to go to Gartmore then payment in full should be made at least 6 weeks before we go.

Beautiful Plaid.

Anthea created a beautiful Plaid Blanket for her Gran. The blanket was crocheted and then the plaid effect was woven into the existing crochet. It is stunning. The old lady was delighted with the gift. I don't know how Anthea was able to part with something so beautiful.

Janice is a Granny-in-waiting. The little pink jacket was knitted, "Just in case it is a girl!" The mitts and bootees match the little white cardigan she knitted a few weeks ago. Janice has a list of items to make for her first grandchild!

Anthea fell in love with Lyn's owl that was shown a couple of weeks ago. She asked Lyn to make one for her daughter's Harry Potter themed bedroom. What a Hoot! Anthea's daughter will be thrilled with her owl!

Finishes were as rare as hen's teeth this week. I suspect that everyone is working on Secret Projects.

Aileen's Baby Shower is on the 17th February.

We will meet in our new home on the 3rd of March, in the cafe in The Bridge,  while refurbishment work on the Conference suite is carried out. Details are given in Karen's e-mail, dated 27th of January. I still have some paper maps if you would like one. I hope to visit The Bridge this week and check out their coffee and will post the postcode in the next blog. Pass the word onto anyone who may have missed the e-mail and has been unable to attend our meetings recently.

AND finally.......congratulations to Isabel on her retirement. She was speechless this week when she received her vouchers of opportunity.......lessons in quilting, knitting socks from the toe up, scrap-booking, cake decorating etc. Once Isabel recovers from her holiday in the sun she will be learning lots of new skills, if she has the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
